The purpose of individual therapy is to give you or your child a space to talk with another person about your strengths and weaknesses, and to develop goals for growth and self-awareness to work towards. At Dagaz Therapy, I work with ages 10 through adulthood. Very often, our past, weaknesses, issues, trauma, anxiety, and depression seems to be negatively impacting our life, or to have led us astray and away from our own goals and journey of growth. Individual Therapy can be helpful for us in dealing with these problems, by helping to cope, change thinking and reactions to our environment and stress, and help to change unhelpful behaviors that keep us stuck.
Individual therapy is also a great choice for individuals who are committed to growth and self awareness and looking to increase overall satisfaction and quality of life. Having a safe space to talk, feel, question, and develop to enhance our life journey is beneficial for everyone!
Individual therapy can be done both in person or through telehealth. Strategies that I use in individual therapy include solution focused strategies, cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, art therapy, EMDR, and TF-CBT. We will tailor our goals and approach to therapy based on your preference and needs and we will decide this together in our first few sessions as we are getting to know each other.
Therapy, in my opinion, is most successful when it is one that is collaborative, nurturing, safe, consistent, and goal oriented. I work hard to be honest, genuine and transparent as a therapist to facilitate this process and environment. Sometimes therapy can be hard or challenging, but the aim is for therapy to add value to your life, not to be something you dread going to each week. Individual Therapy can be completed both in person at my office in Maple Grove, MN or via telehealth.
